History
We have been in the dock and marine industry at Deep Creek for over 40 years.
Deep Creek Docks was founded in 1999 by Eric Sisler under the name Deep Creek Dock Works at our current location (but we didn’t start there).
As the son of the founder of Bill’s Marine Service, Bill Sisler, Eric worked in the marine and dock business from a young man. Bill’s Marine began selling ShoreMaster docks in the early 1980’s and Eric was a big part of the dock division, helping build and design dock systems for DCL and the surrounding areas.
He did this work through 1998 when ShoreMaster no longer supplied an aluminum floating boat dock suited for DCL’s growing demand. So, he took his knowledge of floating aluminum docks and set out to design and manufacture his own version of what he had been doing for years. He designed his frame from the ground up, making bigger, thicker and stronger than anything in the industry at that time. He topped it with top quality vinyl decking and used the ShoreMaster flotation that he knew so well for the foundation of his new frame. He used the best components he could at the time to build a product that have been virtually unchanged since its inception.
Now Fast forward to Jan. 2011…
I, Justin Hershman bought Deep Creek Docks on January 1st 2011. I am the nephew of Eric Sisler and grandson of Bill Sisler.
When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 beautiful daughters. I also enjoy bass fishing and compete in both local and regional tournaments. I love to spend time on the water like many of my customers and understand why you don’t want to have to worry about anything but having fun while you are spending time on the lake.
I have worked in and around the marine industry since I was 13 years old and started for my grandfather working on the gas docks. I graduated high school in 1998 and went to Pittsburgh Technical Institute for CAD. In 1999 I came back home, after realizing I was happier working within our family business, to work beside Eric when he started Deep Creek Dock Works where I helped him build all of the first pieces the company put on the lake. I went back to Bill’s Marine in 2001 and managed the rental and gas docks in the summer and was a snowmobile mechanic in the winter, mostly taking care of our business with the local ski resorts. I worked in most every department at Bills Marine to learn the different aspects of the business.
My grandfather sold the business in 2003 and I worked for the new owners until June 2010 as the manager of Bill’s Outdoor Center. In June 2010 I was given a great opportunity to purchase DCDW from my uncle so returned to DCDW to learn how to run the day to day operations and sales for the company.
Since 2011 we have continually worked hard to live up to our reputation for building a superior product and our service after the sale is second to none. I was taught from an early age by my grandfather and uncle that service is what separates companies and is the biggest key to having a great relationship with customers.
Let us prove it to you by trusting us with your standard or custom dock order. You will certainly be happy that you did for many years into the future.
